Famine 30 hours

Before Summer , I got this e-mail asking if i would like to volunteer as an  translator this year for Famine 30 hours, which brought me the chance to once again participate in this event. Two years ago I start volunteering for World Vision, I didn't really understand anything about Christian at that time, I just volunteered because I wanted to help. Two years After, I got the chance to have my own relationship with God and become a Christian. It's amazing how God has been working in my life and once again give me another chance to share my experience.

Here is a little sharing (:
The Executive director for World Vision Taiwan talked about how over 13 million people in Horn of Africa are suffering famine, and over 920 million people all over the world are facing the edge of hunger. He also mentioned that every 4 seconds one person dies from hunger-related diseases.
They showed a lot of videos during the event, and it really reminded me how much people out there needs help and support. There was this story talking about a grandmother that have five grandchildren, and due to the weather and climate change, there was no harvest for them, which they had to endure hunger or to beg for food for the whole year. One of the artists that went to support shared that when she give the children lollipops during the visit,  they ate the lollipop stick first because they never know how to eat lollipops.

but even though they have such a tough life, they are still thankful for everything; food, used clothes and most important to have people helping them.
It really made me think about how fortunate, how lucky we are and all the thing we take for granted that a lot of people have to struggle through and fight for it.

There is also another amazing story that really showed how God has been working in our lives.African American gospel singer Zorina London came to lead worship on Sunday Morning.
She is a grandmother and is already in the age of 72. But she told us that in the inside she is still a 17 year old girl, that is so blessed and grateful for everything that happened in her life.
she was  raped by her uncle in the age of 8, addicted to drugs during the difficulties of her childhood and beaten up during her whole 14 years of marriage. No one really cared about her and told her that she was nothing. But then Jesus Christ came to her and set her free.
She told us that because of trusting in him, she got to forgive her uncle, her husband and everyone else in her life and she is happy for how God used her to share the gossip.

It's so encouraging hearing her sharing with all the smiles that she had on her face and how powerful her voice is when she sings. (I record a little part of her singing, will upload it sometime soon.)

By fasting through 30 hours, I realized that it's not about going through the 30 hours without eating, it's about realizing how lucky we are, and how we can do to assume responsibilities for others.
Hey all, Love had really made things easier and beautiful.:)
One person's power might be small, but each of us has the ability to make a difference in this world, if we combine all that ability we can change the world. This world will be so much better if we all try to step out the first step.

I'm so glad to have the chance to share this.
Hope you all are having a good summer and hope this is encouraging to you all.
